My Baby loves soccer!

But in this town, we have the best. Now I am not racist. Not at all. I totally celebrate cultural diversity. But in this town, you need to play soccer with the Mexicans. No, you need to learn from them. But no! There is no getting on those teams! Waiting list!!!

At the local high school, when they come on the field, the crowd silences. I am not kidding!

So check out these boys.

The Fuego!

I mean seriously! Who else could rock the pastel cleats! And topped with a mohawk?

They were amazing. They brought out the worst and the best in my son. Not a lot of whistles blown this morning. AND there were elbows flying everywhere. See my son? Foul, foul and FOUL!

Okay, so the ethnic diversity continues. We have in our county coaches from Nigeria, South Africa, Australia, and of course the local boys.

But our secret weapon is.... The Samoan!

He sounds like James Earl Jones, but louder. It is music to my ears. He delivers a constant commentary of where he wants these boys to be, and what his expectations are. The boys absolutely thrive on it.

This chipper North Carolina morning, my son's thighs and face are chapped! And he stripped to remove his under armour, not long after this. (I was wrapped up in a blanket. I would perish back in old PA).

He could feel his toes sometime around lunch and then was back in our yard kicking his ball around!

She has been grounded ill at home, and losing her freakin mind unable to participate in her regularly scheduled activities. Look what Honey got me! It's Nookie time!

It is our anniversary. I am cooking Honey a special meal, that smells lovely right now! I will post about it later, if it is a success. Success being determined by the faces my kids make at the time, and how many people threaten to throw up. Pretty standard really.

But as far as anniversary special-ness goes. I never even took a shower today! But I did walk two miles and dedicate it to Honey. Because I know deep in my soul, he'd prefer me part with more than a few pounds!

So he actually got me a gift! Color me surprised! Well actually shocked!

He got me a Nook! It's the eReader by Barnes and Noble.

I can read continuously and have spent a large fortune on books. This will be my new lover! Hence the word Nook?

Maybe I can show Honey a little lovin' between Chapter one and two?

Conditions are perfect! It's not a diamond anniversary band, but endless supply of books comes in a close second!

This is sorta where I am. The North Carolina pollen has taken me hostage. My nose is drippier than a teething baby! My eyes are so swollen, eyeliner is all guess work.

My CVS Pharmacy man is my hero, because he sent me home with stuff that helps a little and makes me one step closer to human.

I have been waking up at three am, so miserable. But I have found that if you take your 24 hour claritin-D at 3 am, the alarm clock is not so annoying.

Weird.

I am off to run errands, and sneeze at strangers. Then back to my sewing. I am in the middle of making two Indian outfits. I mean like Eastern Indians. Festive sari's. My daughter is presenting India at international day. And it is all about the dress for her.

Disclaimer, because my Mom will read this!

I am TOTALLY a rule follower! I learned from my youth and am insisting to my kids that we follow rules. I gripe to myself (often), and to a select few.

But we follow rules.

BUT, I can't stand when others don't. And without regard!

People set up guide lines and standards. I follow them.

Parking pattern? There I am in the endless circle of hell...!

Everyone else breaks them....I say, "That is not how we behave!"

As God is my witness I will raise my kids to follow rules, and naturally!

Well... wouldn't you know it, the rare few times I express my frustration . (Because, well I blog, because I am pretty spineless.)

But I get up the nerve to share my concerns. (Wasn't that politically correct?)

A Taste of our Spring Break and Easter!

Spring break:

First of all the weather was unbelievable. It was 93 degrees on Saturday in South Carolina. It didn't take long for these things to show up.

Yes, scantily clad children, just begging for a sunburn. What they find so fascinating about gazing in to the pollen polluted water, escapes me.

Always bring you own life guard.

She acts like she is on high alert any time someone enters the water. But the truth is, she can barely swim, herself.

She can act concerned though, she is good at that!

Don't these kids remember seeing snowflakes last spring break?

Do they not notice me in my hoodie, ever ready for the severe weather to roll in?

I guess not. I probably look like some homeless person... with a camera.

(How creepy!)

FYI:

When sunscreening your fair haired boy, if you don't achieve a "full Billy Idol" his scalp will not be protected!

Easter:

It's not that we strive to be different, we just don't like to do the same old boring thing.

Unusual gifts in the Easter baskets always make it funner.

The fake, stick on nails were a big hit. The best nails in church! I have never seen my girls talk with their hands so much.

The girls got tu-tu's in their Easter baskets (party bags).

Tu-tu's are not just for the youngsters any more.

And yes she has shorts on underneath!

The tu-tu's came in handy because we absolutely insist

that our kids dress up to go golfing.

My sister and I wore ballgowns!

Kidding?

We actually wore flapper dresses!

Kidding again!

Did you notice her purple golf ball?

Notice her pink golf ball?

Our kids didn't hunt for eggs on Easter morning.

No! They hunted for colored golf balls!

We actually just forgot to make eggs, and they were getting golf balls any way!

Golfing with a load of kids is miserable when everyone uses a white ball. They each have their own color now, and it is so much better.

Besides, if they didn't find all of the eggs balls, they weren't going to rot and smell bad.

AND, they so definitely needed the practice hunting down their balls!

Never forget to dress up your man too!

This kid is so cool!

Strange Relatives:

There never fails to be a few, whom just can't handle the camera. It brings out the worst.

Then again, what brings out the worst in my Dad, is any opportunity to irritate my Mom.

Now my brother on the other hand...

When asked to pose with his god-daughter,

immediately jumped into the suspicious, profile mugshot pose.

I think I need to talk with him later.

And why lay on a couch when a well padded Pap-Pap is so much better.

And finally

Lesson Never Learned:

1. No helmet!

4. Broke her arm on that very rip-stick,

at this very same place, during spring break last year!

5. No common sense!

I did however, have the great pleasure of digging a huge splinter out of her foot later that day!

Spring break has been a blur

My girls abandoned me to go to Georgia to my sisters house. They never looked back. I thought, "Gee, this will be great. Quality time with my son and I will get a ton of stuff done!" NOT!

Laundry.... not!

Unpacking... not!

Cleaning the house... not!

Groceries... not!

Out to dinner with Daddy and doing manly things 24/7?

To celebrate Easter, we should celebrate by doing all things, manly! ??

I still have a mountain of laundry from last weekends trip out of town. And various other things to get done before we hit the road again in 45 minutes.

As for me? I have had quite a day...

My day has been typically busy. Running about from hair appointment to grocery to Sam's Club to home to meet pest man, (because the ants in my kitchen need to go!) to school to soccer game to home for dinner with the parents to parents to help them load furniture into a truck.

Complicated by: Honey's "mid-life-crisis car" getting a flat. Lord knows it needs extra T.L.C. to get that tire taken care of. So I needed to cart Honey around to various activities. But he did find time to go hit golf balls while I remained in a frenzy. AND... get this... in the MIDDLE of Sporty's soccer game, he tells me he needs a ride to go pick up Baby! (Baby is the damn car's name!)

Okay.... Sporty's team won their first game. Yay!!

A sweet girl who dates my son, now and again, drove Honey to get his car.

I glared at Honey all during dinner.

I demanded a Martini!

Now I am going to pack because I am going to the lake tomorrow with the kids.

Honey has his "silly job" to do, and may or may not golf and/or go to the Bobcats game tomorrow night. (Tough life....I know!)

As for me, I will be sitting on the back deck tomorrow evening, observing God's majesty in form of birds singing to me as the sun sets!

Message on answering machine:

Hey Mom! We did the craziest thing in the lab today. We were working with pharmaceutical leeches, and I thought it would be cool to put one on me. But I forgot that I hadn't had breakfast or lunch. And I didn't really eat much for dinner last night, so it got all crazy. It was awesome!

Beep!

Then I got this on my cell phone!

Those crazy college kids!

Now on a very proud Mama note. Tomorrow the girls and I leave for our last cheer competition of the season. Myrtle Beach, no less. Where the weather is expected to be rainy and cold. Sounds like fun!

But here is the fun part. Posh Spice was cheering on two teams. A high level and a mid level team. It was too much for her and us, and she (we) dropped the high level team in January. It made life so much better for us time wise, and her stress level decreased significantly. But she missed the elite-ness, and I understand. Well today I got a phone call from the coach that sadly, a team member had sprained her ankle and wouldn't be able to make practice this evening, and could Posh fill in? (Now we all knew that since we leave for this competition tomorrow, a sprained ankle is the kiss of death.)

Posh was more than happy to step in. She practiced with the team like a champ tonight. She was all rosy cheeks, sweaty hair and big old smile! AND she started throwing her tuck! What that means is she did a round-off, back hand spring, back tuck! It's a tough skill and she hadn't quite mastered it back in January. Tonight she threw it like nobody's business, and they want her to do it at the competition on Saturday and Sunday. Plus performing with her sister on the other team.

Posh is on clouds, nine, ten and eleven!

If Posh likes anything, she likes to perform!

In her world, it is show time! Every day, all day!

There are so many things coming up for my kids. Soccer game today, cheer try-outs in another week. Cheer evaluations at their All-Star program. Science Fair. Competition this weekend in Myrtle Beach.

But I am nervous about..... me.

I am golfing with "the ladies" today. And I don't mean "the ladies" in a bad way. I mean it in a "they could show Tiger a thing or to" way. (about fidelity to start with... I digress.)

They are really nice to me and helpful and supportive. But I think they would all pass if they had to teach me Bridge too.

Last week we played Captain's Choice. Which means we all hit the ball, and we pick the best ball to hit from again. No brainer.

Here is where I smile and nod.

Today however, I am responsible for my own ball.

Picture me with a scuba mask on, or digging to China in the sand trap.

I will admit, I am anxiously waiting to see if any of my kids become suddenly ill.

Or my husband needs something to be brought to him at work, or the school needs a sub, (never have they called me, because I am not exactly on the list.)

OR, we have a sudden snow storm, or I break a nail, or Michael Jordan calls me for team advice. HEY, it could happen!

But, this means a lot to my sweet Honey. He is so proud of me. He is so happy. He has always wanted me to share in his addiction passion.

So I will pull up my big girl (really big girl) panties, put on my sports bra, (because if I don't strap down these big boys, I can't hold my club right)!, and get ready..

I am however, driving the kids to school while wearing a nightgown. Just in case I get pulled over, they will haul me away for being a loon!

My goal for the day is to not humiliate myself or cause death by boredom to my partners.

Perhaps if I am humbled for the day, I will not be the crazy soccer fan at my daughters game later, that she despises!

Bob Johnson, You are An Idiot!

As you well may know, I am an AVID Charlotte Bobcats fan! AVID! I go to every game that I am able to. The kids and I go when Honey is working. We routinely do homework while the team is warming up.

A-V-I-D!!!

I never cared that Bob Johnson owned the team. I never cared that Bob Johnson owned BETV. I never cared that 99 1/2% of the operating staff at the Time Warner Cable Arena, The Bobcat Security Staff, and the Parking Personel were African-American! I never cared! I pay for my tickets, I pay for my parking, I pay for my drinks and snacks, and I worship my team! And in case Bob Johnson didn't notice.. I am white!

Days after selling the Charlotte Bobcats, Bob Johnson called Charlotte's business community "arrogant" and "incestuous" and said the city doesn't do enough for existing and potential minority-owned business.

Johnson, a self-made billionaire who started the Black Entertainment Television cable network and brought the Bobcats to Charlotte, made the remarks Saturday at the Urban Leadership Institute, a gathering of mostly black business people.

The group presented Johnson with an award moments before he spoke, though the crowd's reaction was mixed after he made his comments.

"Charlotte is a very, how would I call it, close-knit, arrogant, sometimes incestuous town.

"...It's close-knit, and if you come to this town, and you look like you're one of those people that might break some glass ... it's going to be tough for them to relate to.

"The thing that concerns me is that I'm just surprised that the city doesn't do more for African-American small businesses. And I don't really understand that."

And in case Bob Johnson didn't acknowledge, he only hires African-American people into his multi-million dollar corporation. So who is "incestuous" and "arrogant" ?

NOT me! And I am proud to be from Charlotte and support MY team! (And besides, I have a voice mail from Michael Jordan, on my cell phone thanking me for my support!)

That's Michael, right after he called me, telling Gerald Wallace that he called me, and not to worry about calling me, but that Gerald could wait until the game was over to call me. Because they both knew I would get all crazy about Bob Johnson and go ahead and blog crazy shit and ruin their future ads on BET.

But what Michael and Gerald don't know is that I don't have enough blog traffic to worry about that!

(Oh and Sporty Spice doesn't know about the hoo-ey that Bob Johnson spouted today, because she loves her Bobcats even more than I and will lose her ever-lovin'-mind! Because like me, she sees the players and the people that love them and not their color!)

So lets not get crazy people, it's all about Orange and Blue! And why Bob Johnson doesn't see that, is because he is only worried about green!

We are out of here! It will be one of those rare weekends, when nothing else matters. No cheer competitions to attend. No basketball games. No soccer games. And, no baseball games! We're gonna go here.

My friend asked me to join the ladies golf league at our local country club.

I laughed, and said something like, "don't you have to know how to play first?"

She said, "the ladies are so nice and all you need is to be able to hit a little and they will help you."

So I signed up. And my personal goal for the day was, "not to suck!"

Today I played with three lovely ladies. Each and every one of them, were older than my parents. These are the things that I learned.

1. Ladies golf is every Tuesday till next Thanksgiving!

2. They play 18 holes without stopping for lunch, only the potty!

3. They play in winds that pull the flag out of the pin.

4. They cuss like sailors, and wiggle eyebrows about the cuties in the pro shop. (Ick!)

They were very very nice, funny ladies!

It was grueling in the wind, and lasted five hours. I am exhausted but do not go off of mommy-duty till probably 10pm.

I did NOT suck, but if one of those ladies would have fired up a doobie, I would have!

I am crock potting today, because today will be the first of five insane days.I might as well start off with a home cooked meal early in the week. I hope it gets me brownie points because I am sure eating out is on our agenda later in the week. And probably through a window at that!

I give you...

Pulled-Pork Tacos

2 cups salsa

2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

2 Tablespoons chili powder

2 Tablespoons oregano

~mix this goo together and rub it all over a 3 lb pork butt~

I trim the fat off of the butt if I can. (I wish someone would trim mine off!)

Put it in the crock pot on low for 7-8 hours.

Pull it apart and serve on tortillas.

Add: cilantro, limes, sour cream (our favs)

or cheese, salsa, whatever.

I make black beans and rice on the side. Sometimes the kids wrap that up too!

I mixed up the goo and rubbed it on the meat last night. Crocked it this morning at 6 am.

Now I have a appointments, laundry and a zillion errands followed by driving to soccer.

Oh and by the way? NOBODY messes with "The Family!"

We have an organization in our community that provides homes for special needs kids and young adults called Holy Angels. Every year there is a big charity bowling tournament to help support them. It is a blast! Honey was at work and I had a sitter! Don Juan took the night off of work to bowl with his mother.(That would be me). My parents are always ready to roll. However.. a family photo never works. Someone is always acting like a weirdo. This is the best I could do.

Eyeliner is the scourge of all man kind!

I was never a girly-girl! In my mind, my girls wouldn't be applying eyeliner and the such till their wedding days.

I think that's how it worked for me.

Many a miserable attempt at eye liner through the years, brought me to a close relationship with Bobbi Brown. "She" taught me the ever wonderful powder liner, with cute little flat edge brush."She" had me at "easy"!

What I didn't notice was the fine print.

"Will not cut the mustard for competition make-up. Risk of ridicule and mockery if not attempted by a professional"

Thus began the trial and tribulations of liquid versus pencil versus gel, versus DSS involvement! (Because when you duct tape your child to the floor to try and put her eye liner on, all sorts of "promises" are made.)

It was time to set them free.

I gave them everything they wanted to try with.

I fail to have the hotel mirror at home! And it was awesome!

Actually there are a lot of things at the hotel that made the whole experience pretty tolerable! Breakfast on a cart, Daddy and little brother kicked to the curb, fresh sheets at bed time, the list goes on..

Et Voila !

She did it all herself! I only helped a little and drank a bunch of hotel coffee.

The other one, was in a bit of a mood and was anti-paparazzi. (They stalk her so!)

It's not fair! I love on my kids. I lay with them and rub their backs. I wipe their little faces. I dash to the store and get Super Hero popsicles.I wash the laundry like it is loaded with leprosy. I hold hands and brush hair.

Where are my super mom anti-bodies?

Does she look like she'd waste any of her fabulous time looking at her reflection in the potty?

I think not!

On the bright side...

Every one of my kids told me to go right back to bed. They all told me they hoped I'd get better quick. The 8 year old rubbed my back and kissed me on the forehead before he left for school. As a matter of fact I got lots of forehead kisses this morning.

But the big blessing was that #1 Son is home from college and he drove them to school! And on his way home from school he stopped at the store and bought me some of this.

How sweet is he?

#1 Son home from college last night limping like Tiny Tim. Need to get that swollen ugly foot x-rayed today.

Sporty Spice finally got the evil GI flu and has her head in a garbage can upstairs.(And in between puking and sobbing, she is begging to play in her soccer game tomorrow!)

I have always wanted pictures of me and the kids. True, Honey has the mac-daddy Canon EOS whatever, but there really aren't very many pictures of me and my babies. If there are, I am always pissed off because I am highly irritable when he is holding his camera. You know how it works... he should be holding other things ... for me; my purse, my beer, some flowers for me...etc.

Well, today while hiding in the car, avoiding the gale force winds of sultry North Carolina, Posh Spice showed me a trick or two.

She showed me that my camera has a screen that rotates and flips around so we can actually look at ourselves!

Who knew!!!

More of a slide show because I am feeling much more comfortable whipping out my camera at any given moment. AND the kids are liking it.

What I said: Kids, how do you like this nice dinner? Tomato Macaroni and Cheese ala Paula Dean, & Chicken Skewers with Peanut Sauce ala Sunny Anderson.

What I meant to say: You will eat it and you will like it, because, Stouffers has nothing on me!. The freezer food is meant for serious conditions, like when I am sick or when we are frozen in (again). But it's home made and you WILL enjoy it!

So this is the reaction I get. Sweet talking to them (as above) gets me no where.

So a big thumbs down for, surprisingly, the Mac 'n Cheese.

BUT....

The chicken... now that brings out the sword swallower in every one.

Apparently! Yes they liked the chicken, but not the sauce. So they ate protein tonight. I'll take it! Two recipes in the garbage. Oh well.

And I just can't figure this one out!

Strange little creature of habit. IN the wee hours of the morning she is an insane OCD bat out of hell about her wardrobe.

But, after dinner, she showers and puts on her sporty long sleeve shirt, pj pants and this crazy hat. I made this John Deere, mohawk hat years ago, but it has recently wormed it's way into her heart and apparently on to her night-time head.

I mean, she sleeps in it, every night!

And I mean the minute her butt hits the surface of any chair or couch.... out she and her hat go. Z-Z-Z-Z-Z

She falls asleep so quickly after dinner that we always have to zombie-walk her to bed. Cautiously, we do the walk, because she is a wicked sleep walker. Any quick movement and she is wide, crazy, eyed, and talking in a language we haven't grasped yet. (Excellent fuel for the future I'm thinking!)

Even her 8 year old little brother knows the drill. He takes her by the hand and leads her like a little child up the steps, sweetly talking to her all the way.

Removing the hat could trigger things even stranger, so it's a keeper!

Maybe it's a dream catcher, who knows. But doesn't every Momma take comfort in the fact that her baby's head is warm?

Just a few things to share. First the very serious.

This car is at the park where my daughter practices soccer. It is there everyday. The driver is a little rough looking and makes the girls nervous. Hence, I park my big obnoxious SUV right there in front of him. I have already told both coaches, and they all say they don't now who it is, but yes, indeed he is always there. His license plate say's "smooth 1" Hey, if my girls are creeped out, then I will listen. So today I took a picture. The girls were mortified, but I am going to show it to the country cop I know. Better safe than sorry. And he is not a relative of any soccer player, I have already checked, no one knows him or his car.

Over reacting? I think not!

These are the red velvet cake, cuppy cake in an ice cream cones that I made the kids last night. Little did I know they would become the new stain in my bedroom carpet! The guilty culprit that my daughter spewed in an arc around my bedroom at 4 am!

I am exhausted! I have been running (well actually driving) like a mad woman to get the unachievable done. Yesterday it was just one thing after another. Went to the sewing store to buy gathering tape,forgot my wallet - two hours at the chevy garage for the automatic door lock that hasn't worked in weeks, "sorry mam we couldn't duplicate the problem so we just replaced something anyway"- took four girls to soccer practice- stayed to keep an eye on "creepy guy" with "smooth-1" tag who might live in his cadillac in the parking lot, eyeballing my soccer girls? I don't think so! Frickin freezing outside, waiting to watch all the soccer girls ears fall off and imagining them scrambling around in the grass looking for two that match. Phone call from after-school Nazi telling me "You forgot your son at school". I did not forget him, he had science class after school! "No, there is no more science class till March!" What she meant to say was... "you finally lost it Missy, with your running around like a chicken with her head cut off! How bout I call DSS and relieve you of what must be an unbelievable burden," then she cackled and said," and your little dog too!" So I broke land records to get baby boy, who could have cared less because he was hanging with his homies in after school care. Back to soccer with baby boy and pouty girl who doesn't want to hang around and watch soccer girls look for their ears.Finally by the grace of God reach Honey, who had been in the witness protection plan for most of the day.... he comes and rescues two kids from watching soccer practice because certainly they will die from boredom. Stay after at soccer to let girl stay in my warm car waiting for her mom, because she is 2 pounds and when her ears fall off, she will float away. get home to lovely dinner prepared by Honey. Hmmm... I am happy, kids not so much. Soccer girl had been jonesing for Mexican. She proclaims that we hate her and she never gets anything special, as she chokes down her food. 25 minutes later (I kid you not) out the door to cheer practice. I glare at Honey and baby boy curled up on the couch for a long winters nap. On the way to cheer find out all of the things that my girls need, need, need before the next day. Straight to Target which is on the other and safer side of town, because it is dark now. No fricking compass and protractor at Target! Plotting death of dufuss who broke daughters during school today! To office max for protractor, realizing I don't even know what they look like from my previous life! Then to sports authority to buy under armor for soccer girl who was not blessed with a healthy and insulating layer of fat! Grab three various shirts because everyone in town is there also buying cold weather gear because soccer has started and they all need it. Ladies eye balling me because I have an armful. I hide in the corner to compare prices and check sizes. I march to the counter with my one shirt with a smugness about myself. Scary people in parking lot, I strike a defensive move of fake talking on my phone. Slick I know! Back to cheer, to hear some Moms brag about their kids and others just have roots grow out of their asses into chairs. I snarl at one of my BFF and say "Don't start, I am in a bad mood", she sweetly says "who pissed in your wheaties?". We share witty and sarcastic comments which always cheers me up. We make dinner plans for tonight, our kids over hear and say "yay, we are going to have dinner together?" We both scream "NO...OH NO NO NO, NO KIDS".
And now it is indeed Friday and my clock is ticking. When that school bell rings I will run screaming out of there. Because I have to time kids for the presidential fitness thing today.... all day. Maybe I will treat the kids to a week end with the after-school Nazi! No wait.... more soccer practice. I'm bringing duct tape for all those ears though!

What I said: Oh how wonderful that the science fair project is done and we can have our floor and sanity back. Good job sweet girl, you really did a good job!

What I meant: Thank the Lord we are getting this out of my house, for all the stress and tears it has been causing. I know there is glue and paint on my dining room rug. ANd I am so writing a letter to the Dean about the $ and time involved in these ridiculous projects. (She had to turn in three projects today and declare her new project subject!) Homeschooling is looking so good to me!(Actually, really...I have considered it!)

What I said: Look how sweet that our children continually sleep together in the same bed. What angels they are. Lets not move them to their own beds, lets just let them enjoy each other's company!

What I meant: Honey put the house on the market NOW! If we down size to a two-bed room, we can afford Disney every year and then some!

Hijacked by the 6th grader, and her science fair project, another science project and a history thing. I am so over this over bearing list of projects.

I am really trying to ignore it all , because they need to do these projects on their own. BUT, look at my dining room and living room!

Try to ignore the dogs, sequestered in that crate. There is way too much stuff for them to step on and that my result in instant death .... by her.

I'll be back.... someday! She is hovering over me at this minute because I am in her creative space, and that clashes with her comfort zone.

This little blondie here, is Lindsey Jacobellis. She did NOT win the gold medal in Turino four years ago, because she was hot dogging, and she slipped and ended up with the silver. Poor girl.

Thousands of interviews, photo shoots, and four years later....

Yesterday was supposed to be her big win. But... she didn't even make it down the hill. True conditions were awful, the slope was slushy and rutted, and every one was struggling.

Sorry Lindsey! Maybe you will have another chance.

What a cute boy! Won the gold medal in something. I think he had skis on. Any way, his story was all about his older brother who has cerebral palsy. His brother was never supposed to be walking at his age and is managing to walk sometimes and can even ski. He dedicated his medal to his brother. Canada got a quick nod, but it was for his brother.

Okay... how many mothers, daughters and women of every age, want to snatch him up right now!

You cute little thing with the french accent! I am throwing Apollo Anton to the curb! But Anton has that cute little team mate J.R. who nearly died last year..... I am a sucker for the whole life story, not just their performance.

If I told you that competition cheerleading was loaded with drama, would you believe me? Would you laugh at me? Would, as a dear bloggy friend, at least continue reading???

Believe me it is, over-saturated with drama, and it is okay to laugh. Because today my girls; a seasoned fourth year competitor and her rookie sister, both won first place together. It was a great victory! This competition was delayed three hours from the six inches of snow that we got pummeled with last night, and that gave them all the more time to unravel with nerves.

They will fight over this plaque till they have to return it to the gym on Wednesday. I think sweet cheeks on the left has it under her pillow right now!

Okay... big winner number three!

I made it exactly as to the recipe, except I cut the cayenne in half, and threw it in the crock pot for 8 hours after the whole saute onion part. My kids loved it, my Honey loved it. It was really fantastic!

Okay last but not least.

It is NBA All-Star week. In case you haven't noticed, I am entranced with basketball, in particular my Charlotte Bobcats. My Bobcat All-Star Gerald Wallace, is in the slam dunk contest tonight, so all eye's are on the TV. Well... actually we are aggressively flipping between NBA and The Olympics.

BUT.. for those of you who enjoy great commercials, the NBA ones are by far the best.

#1: So I am doing research on jelly fish, and was on the internet trying to find

some data to back it up. AND I found another university doing the same

research. Go ahead! Guess where?

Me: No clue, (but thinking, you are already 13 hours away, hoping and praying it's not further) Where Honey?

Me: You are kidding me! (Two hours from me)

#1: So I've been emailing this professor back and forth all day and she said I sound

like a great candidate for her grad program.

Me: *silence* because I am in complete shock. That is amazing!

Sporty Spice has been feeling punky. She's missed a day of school each week for three weeks. That is unheard of for her! She would rather bleed out of her eyeballs than miss a day of school. (Over-achiever! Did NOT get that trait from me!)

The Doctor says she does not have strep or the flu or a variety of germs. She may get tested for mono later this week. She is already irritated by the idea because she has soccer try outs next week.

For now she is exhausted and feeling a little needy.

I am so accommodating!

Accommodating: helpful in bringing about a harmonious adaptation.

What I feel like however, is a door mat. " Come on in! Let me take your coat. Wipe your feet right here, on me!"

Well... maybe that is a little dramatic. Of course the word dramatic has the word estrogen in it's definition, I am certain!

I have been doing my job, schlepping my kids around to countless doctors appts., haircuts, dental appts., school, after school activities, Orthodontist appts, for many years now. I have fostered relationships with many, many, people who help take good care of my children is these areas. When you have a handful of kids and a bazillion places to be a one time, you begin to carefully trust what appts, that you can safely leave your child at for a few moments under the watchful eye of staff that you have grown to know, while you hustle another child to another destination.

I have been taking my kids to the same orthodontist since the beginning of time. I love his staff, they love my kids. We are ready for round two of braces on the second child. Second child of four who see him.

I selected this orthodontist, five years ago, after careful research and recommendations from dentist's. I have been very very happy with him.

Well....Honey comes home from work the other day and announces that everybody at his institution goes so see someone else who gives a huge financial discount. And everybody just loves him. I am pissed!

So I am suppose to just call and cancel our appt. to have our braces applied for next week, even though we have already had the impressions done and are ready to go? I looked at his guys web site and he does the old fashion braces with rubber bands. They require a visit every month. My kids have been sporting the Damon system that has a tension wire that moves teeth faster and requires a visit every three months.

What I meant to say to Honey was....

Thank you for spending the time and research to find a new and "rumored to be" less expensive Orthodontist. One that my kids don't know and I will be forced to hover around for every "more frequent" appt. for the next five or six years.

Actually you need to take one for the team and become the go-to guy for this new adventure. You will have to carefully compare your schedule with the schedule of your children and find blissfully compatible times in which you may take your kids to their brand new Orthodontist. Oh and I will warn you, until you background check and socialize at length with all of the staff, you may not leave my children there unaccompanied!

But I won't, because if hell freezes over and I were going to have a big Valentines surprise, this would surely ruin it.

And another thing I want to say today!

I just watched Whip It with my kids. One daughter was mortified, one daughter, (much like my self), was totally inspired. I mean what better way to vent your daily mom and woman frustrations. I definitely would take one for the team , and give one back. I can think of so many people I would clothes line and laugh hysterically at . And YOU MY BLOGGER FRIENDS are being drafted to my team. I could go down my list of regular daily blog reads and happily roll with you. The list would be endless.

And the coach would totally be Meeko Fabulous! (I so hope you read this one!)

Still laughing..... Snow day part 2

Okay.... so there is not a spec of snow or ice on the main road of our neighborhood. I have ventured to the big city to take one of our sleepover girls home. YET there is still 6 inches of ice and snow on my back deck. AKA Where the sun don't shine.

Therefore!

There is no school tomorrow for any county or private schools in our area. There is no precipitation in our forecast, only coldness.

So turn off your sprinkler systems neighbors or we will actually be stuck home tomorrow!

And Momma has a free shopping with the kids day!

Woo-Hoo Brighton here I come! I am thinking Olive Garden followed by a little Books-A-Million. We have an orthodontist appointment but it may be cancelled as well, due to dangerous conditions!

Party on people, it's another family slumber party!

We were wrong! We invited two extra kids for a sleepover. We boldly took them to play bingo and have pizza. We laughed at the silly little flakes on our windshield. My husband and I had mocked everyone who was frantically rushing to the grocery store.(Though we had stocked up as well. We just acted real causal about it.)

When we all woke up the next morning, this is what we saw out the front door.

Yes, it looks harmless.

However, that slushy looking stuff in the cul-de-sac, is in fact ice!

At this point we are screwed.

It froze so quickly we didn't even have time to laugh about it! As you can see the sledding brigade is already forming.

This is view from up the hill. Straight ice, all the way down to our house.

Again I say, screwed.

Basically stuck in little suburbia until something melts it. There are no salt trucks for neighborhood roads in this town. All de-icing goes on the major roads.

The real men of the hood, all hike to the top to evaluate to what level rescue is available. The MD's start hiking to the major roads, because their jobs are kinda important.

However, extreme sledding has begun.

Certain things are tolerated in a snowbound situation.

For example, you may play in the carefully sculpted landscaping areas. All for the art of war.

You may order smaller children around as if they were your minions. In order to prepare the perfect snowball assault on the older unsuspecting kids. (You have waited all year for this).

Like this older kid here. She will feel snowballs down the back of her coat soon.

In the meantime, she will grasp any opportunity to pose for a potential addition to her portfolio. (R.E.I. just might need the extreme wear junior model).

This is the end of day one. They have worn every bit of our ski attire. They have consumed, sausage biscuits, bacon, gallons of orange juice, grilled cheese, tomato soup, hot cocoa, brownies, ziti and meatballs. We are still frozen in and luckily we still have our electricity. (Here in the south, frozen, icy, (weak southern )tree branches, have no choice but to faint in the crisp weather and take out all the nearby electric lines. Sometimes for days!

Day two, still frozen in, still sledding. Neighbors chipping away at their driveways, but everyone is ignoring the big elephant! The frozen main road. The temp will not exceed the freezing point today. We already have eaten pancakes and bacon. I am now working on chili. Honey is on his way out the door to work. He has a four wheel drive truck, but saves it for job emergencies. Like right now! By Honey... see ya later! Could be days!

At this point all churches were cancelled for today, and we are all wondering about school tomorrow. We also missed going to the circus in town, which was a huge drag for the kids.

We'll see!

And these two little xtra girls? All mine! I hope their parents don't miss them too much, cause they are stayin for a while!

I have a secret.....

In my past posts I have referred to the fact that I have had surgery. The past two weeks I have had a dire need to be extremely comfortable. In a drastic moment after a shower when I was feeling particularly miserable and uncomfortable, I grabbed a pair of my Honey's boxers. Well.... they were so comfortable and I was amazed. Since then I have snagged all of his Hanes boxer-briefs.

Yes my Honey DOES look this good.... to me. He is a little hairy-er. But the undies are awesome. No panty lines, no wedgies and you can't tell they have long legs even under snug jeans.

I just went to Sam's Club and bought us 16 pairs and have cleaned out his drawer of his older brands.

Aren't we just sickening?

This past weekend we were at a two day cheer leading competition. Not just any ordinary competition but the Universal Spirit of Hope. Hope Stout was an amazing girl who died from her agressive bone cancer shortly after being diagnosed.

When approached by the Make-A-Wish-Fundation, her one wish was to make others kids wishes come true. She and her parents started a foundation called March Forth With Hope to make those things happen. The goal of March Forth With Hope is to provide support to families who spend time with their very sick children in the hospital and risk losing their jobs and homes.

When Hope died she had successfully brought to fruition the wishes of 155 other children.

March Forth With Hope continues to partner with other companies to grow their charity.This weekends cheer competition was just that. Cheerleaders from all over the United States came to the great city of Charlotte to take part in this huge charity event. When I say huge, it was an two-day ALL day event. We were exhausted. From begining to end it was an emotional journey. My two girls cheered on several teams. Here is their tumbling coach. He is an amazing european rock-star type! They love him!!!

Day one had it's down fall, and this baby-girl always takes it personally. Very, very, personally.

Come on now....smile for Mommy. Kissy kissy kissy! Big smile baby please??????

Thank You! That is so much better. Now let's fix that hair for round two!!

Not so sensitive daughter was done cheering early so it was easy for her slide into stooge mode for the rest of the day.

Easy to do when you already have a stooge built into the family!

At the end of the day, everyone had medals, but it's not about the medals, it's about the sportsmanship. Really!!I do feel that way!!!

This is so gross! I want my body in original factory condition. Someone hit the restore button! I have much better things to do than "take is easy" or "celebrate a bowel movement!" Vera Bradley doesn't make a cover for one of those things!

My pain is so much better, when I don't move and I can actually sleep again. So okay, Ashton! I am done being punked. You got me now. OKAY!

Today I am having surgery. Nothing glamorous! My insides look like a Rubik's cube from previous surgieries and they are going to straighten them out in 12 moves or less. I say, just go for one side of all the same color! Good enough for me! But gotta get it done, none the less. My husband in an anesthesiologist. AKA "The Sandman". And this is how I envision him at work. He's a funny guy.

And here are some of the things he might say!

"Tell ya what, I'll put him to sleep for free but it's gonna cost ya to wake him up!"

"Tell ya what, I'll put him to sleep as soon as you guarantee I will be out in time for the Bobcats!, and throw in a pre-game beer!"

"Go ahead and close your eyes when I put your IV in, and I will too!"

"This is your first time being put to sleep? Tell ya a secret, this is my first time too!"

"Gotta a music preference? You look like a "Twinkle Twinkle" gal, but I am thinking more "Enter the Sandman" by Metallica."

"Hey can I write down what you say?"

Oh and he always calls his guy patients "Chief" and his girl patients "Doll". Which pisses me off when he calls me Doll, because he's in professional mode. BOO! He's my sexy doctor, call me Sweetie! (OH you should see him in scrubs.... nurses page him to the recovery room, just to watch him walk away!) Sigh. I used to do the same thing too!

Well he's not my doctor today, so he better not call me doll! He'll be very very busy with his Blackberry letting everyone else scurry around. And he will for sure be talkng about the fact that he will be at the Bobcat game this afternoon. More like rubbing it in. I will be asleep at home, waking to the smell of my MaMa's Meatballs! Whose lucky now?

I have some hilarious tales of the weekend to blog, but will later under the effects of drugs, to make it funnier for you and me!

This is the coolest picture. It is so much more than a jump ball. In the next picture (which was too blurry) the ball is gone and the guys are holding hands. Well not really holding hands, but left ball-less (can I say that?) and awkward.

(okay a 4 foot boy does not make a seven foot man do anything. He just smiles and shames them into it.)

This is Boris Diaw. He is becomeing one of my favorite players. They say he is fat, they say he is out of shape, they say his days are numbered.

I think he has a nice smile and looks like he is having a fun time playing. He manages to score alot too! Other guys look like it is torture and like they want to kill people.

He's from France and his name is Boris? Two, cool points!

Here is crazy Gerald Wallace. He is insane, as well you may know, from perhaps reading my blog? I Love watching him play, but he does have that tortured, "I'm gonna kill you" look. It's AWESOME!

And he doesn't mind signing a shoe or two.

But the best is for last!

This is Shane Battier. He rocked the backboard for Duke 9 years ago. He was a Thoeology major and an all around great guy. We were desperatly trying to find a name for our soon to be born sweet baby son. Shane felt like a great match to our last name. And Shane he became!

Now 9 years later he plays for the Houston Rockets, and is no slouch, I might add! He continues to be a great guy and was more than happy to have his picture taken with our Shane. He's a little goofy looking when he smiles, but a star on the court!!

Oh he signed the shoe too!

Last night we were at the Bobcat game, in which Gerald Wallace sunk a three pointer at the buzzer and beat the Grizzlies!!!

You Gerald, are a maniac!

That's why we are crazy about you! Because you are crazy! You started it!

Just be so thankful you are not my son, (seriously) cause I would have to kill you for how many times you make me gasp during the games. Now go send your mother some flowers. Poor woman probably needs nerve pills too!

But here is what I really can't quite process. Or maybe "processing" had something to do with it.....

This girl was at the game last night. She looked for sale awful cute, in her little Bobcats jersey and hat. She was probably in her mid 20's.

I just happened to glance her direction during the Star Spangled Banner, when I observed her holding her right hand reverently over the right side of her chest! As God is my witness and Frank E. Nutter is my anatomical mentor!!! I doubt she had the rare cardiac abnormality in which her heart is actually on the right side of her chest, but one never knows. So I quickly spit out my beer diet coke, okay more like spewed it on the row in front of me, nudged my sis-in-law, a doctor, who also spewed then we tried so hard not to cry with hysterical laughter till the Banner was finished. The children glared at us because of our poor patriotic manners. They will get over it, I embarrass them a lot.

Pay attention people are always watching you!!!!

Hello New Friends and goodbye Christmas!

Aren't they sexy? Hmmmm? I am in love! They do everything in the world that a washing machine and dryer can do. In fact later I will be stuffing the boxer in there, and then the leather couch. Perhaps the china and then Honey's cute little Porche.

Everything comes back out clean and smelling good!

I will have washed everything in the house, including comforters, pillows and sleeping bags. Then.... I will sit down and smoke a whole box of cigarettes.

Now on to that game... "One of these things is not like the other... One of these things just doesn't belong..."

This is my Nativity set, that was my mothers, and now mine. I just love it. Anything look out of place?

Okay, the stable was actually built my daughter as a history project. It is supposed to be a house built by the Creek indians. But it fits in well.

Now this guy, is out of place, a bit!

He came home with us after a Holiday Dinner at the local Chinese restaurant.

The girls were 3 and 4 then, and matter of factly put him in the Nativity scenario. They felt like he needed to be part of the celebration of baby Jesus being born. It worked for me. We believe what we believe. Baby Jesus was born, and everyone was happy.

My father on the other hand is very strict about who was invited to be in the Nativity. No new guys! No new Chinese guys either. When he visits, Pap Pap always mysteriously relocates Budda to somewhere in the house and it's always like, "Where's Waldo". He joined our Nativity 7 years ago, I think he's comfortable with the crowd. It's the weirdness that makes my family complete!

It's 18 degrees here in sunny North Carolina! Some of your Northerners may laugh at me, but I have been in the south now for 13 years. 13 years is the exact amount of time apparently it takes for your blood to become so thin, you can barely function at 18 degrees. I am thinking of cancelling school my self! Seriously, there are still people in this town who still have there sprinkler systems running and there will be a heck of a whole lot of ice on the roads this morning.

Freeze pipes! Close schools! Cancel after school activities! These are times meant for snuggling and watching the fireplace. (Which in my house is a DVD of a fireplace since Honey ripped ours out a few years back to make room for his fish tank!)

But I am getting new Washing Machine today! I may great the delivery men with hot cocoa and my snuggie on.

So I wake up at the crack of dawn this morning feeling strangely refreshed. Start coffee, let the puppy out to pee.... go move clothes from washer to dryer. ERROR codes, flashing red lights, weird little (obviously unheard) beeps. One big load of sopping wet clothes in the washer. It won't let me select the drain option, it won't let me turn it off. It just looks at me like a defiant teenager and will not obey!

I had to shut it off at the circuit breaker. Breaker on and off gave no results.

SO I decide to be productive in other ways to spend time waiting for Honey to get home from his trip.

So I work on my sewing.... except the machine is not working. It keeps skipping stitches and reading "motor overload". Then after I rethread and blow out the dust and restart, several times... ,I break a frickin' needle. Then "motor overload!" AGAIN!

My BRAND NEW $$$$$ Machine!!!

Honey gets home, being the doctor that he is, pronounced the washing machine. He tried to make me feel good about "using the heck out it", but I still have sopping wet clothes. I see mold in my future!

Apparently a new machine will be in order. Do I get another moldy smelling front loader? Remember the good old days when we would beat our clothes against a rock at the creek? No moldy smell then!

The sewing machine however.... is not paid off yet! Tomorrow I need to call "the machine guy".

I see wine in my future. I mean like moments from now!

The tall and the short of it......

Grandma and my elusive, very tall, wayward son. It was a true gift to see him over the holidays. Not once but twice!!!

We have no idea why is so tall.... must be something he ate as a child.

It certainly doesn't run in the family. AND YES, he looks just like his Dad!

The little kids don't see enough of him, so treat him like a toy. A really tall toy.

I guess they are like those crazy explorers who saw a tall mountain and said to each other, "We must climb that thing!"

One kid is not so bad.

But these kids tend to get out of hand!!!

Maybe this is why he doesn't come around much!

Not to Be Out Done By Daddy!!

My girls like to be cut loose in the kitchen. They want me to be around but not to hover. She was in the mood for this, but as a dessert for our "lay around and watch TV because daddy's out of town", evening. (Which he might say is pretty standard.... but he's not here!)

Broiled Bacon and Banana

This is so easy! Half a slice of bacon wrapped around 1/4 of a banana . Secured with a wooden toothpick. NOT a plastic one!

(Just in case you noticed in the picture, Krispy Kreme dough nuts are pretty much on stand-by, in all situations in our house! Just in case you have a hypo-glycemic emergency, I will be ready! I will save your life!)

She want me to get the close up "money shot".

Put them on a pammed up broiler pan. They will stick. They go into an oven on broiler mode. I put them in the middle rack because the broiler and I have history.

They need to be watched! When they look like this, bacon getting crispy, time to turn them.

Continue till crispy on the other side. The bananas will get spongey looking. No worries, it's just their sugar expanding. They will be super hot, so hold back for a bit before you eat them.

My sister in law taught me this one. They are an "Island thing". Not sure what Island, I wasn't paying attention to that part because, there was food to focus on!

My Honey's Christmas Tenderloin

I am so far behind and out of order for posting the interesting things (I think) that have gone on during the holiday season. So out of order it is!

Every year Honey makes this Salt Dough Beef Tenderloin

He learned it from Alton Brown on the Food Network, which is about the only thing we watch!

He makes this salty dough mixed with herbs. (Yuck... do not taste!)

He lays the seared tenderloin on it and covers it with more herbs. He used a french blend this time, but usually mostly rosemary.

Wraps this baby up.....

Cooks at 400 for 30 minutes (or so... check with Alton on this little detail.)

It comes out looking like this alien pod, It has to sit for a certain period of time, not too long or it will over cook!

Then crack open the dough casing, brush off the herbs and Voila!

This meat is so tender and flavorful. We love it.

He might try this technique with our Easter lamb this year. But he will research it first. He is big into research.

New Year Eve!

I had big plans!

Well, not so big! I had invited twins over for the night, and then invited their parent over for dinner. Good friends of ours. So let the cooking begin. I love, LOVE, LOVE , Eggplant Parmesean. So I thought I would make it. I used the never fail, baked recipe from Cook's illustrated. BOO! It was dry and well..... dry! (They said it was great and they even had seconds.) They must have been starving! Good friends!
BUT I did make these!

(click and cook!) They were yummy! And the smell still lingers in my house this morning. I am forever more, convinced that instead of a fancy candle, you should mince garlic and parsley and sautee it in white wine. Your house will smell fabu for a long time. Maybe Yankee candle should make a White wine, sauteed, garlic and parsley candle! GENIOUS!

Anyway, for some extremely strange reason, by the time dinner was over and dishes were done I realized I had only had a half of a glass of red wine. That is crazy! I love to cook and eat and clean with gusto while sipping on wine.

Maybe these are signs of things to come? "Hello 2010! No thanks I'll have water?" It doesn't sound right!

So anyway, Kiss Kiss, Hug Hug, goodbye friends. Kiddies are all tucked in watching a movie through slitted heavy eyes. And I notice, it's 11:00 and everyone in the house is asleep?

Merry Ski-mas!

We went to Snowshoe WV to ski for the second Christmas in a row. We had fabulous snow when we got there. (So fabulous in fact that we couldn't get up the drive way to our house, till some local boy plowed it.) We had to hike through 24 inches of snow with puppy in hand and three kids who had to pee, real bad, up a 50 yard driveway.

My kids are hell on skis.

Rocket man on the left goes straight down the mountain with few turns. He doesn't seem to have a problem stopping whenever he gets where he is going. (Unlike me...)

Ski Bunny in the middle is good at making it all look so easy. Steepness doesn't deter her. She really only cares if her ski pants match her coat, and that her gator is the wrong shade of pink.

Suzy Chapstick on the right, is a no-nonsense, danger is better and "can you keep up" machine. Next year she needs to snowboard.

All of the kids wanted to do at the end of the week was spend time on the terrain park. The terrain park is an area where there are obstacles and jumps and things to slide on, "shredding"? (I prefer to avoid obstacles, not jump, and shred not!)

Rocket man attempted to slide acrossed something that he ended up straddeling instead. Big Ouch!

Two days of ski school was only baby sitting an attempt to give them better speed control skills.

Here we are at the top of the world. I could only gather the kids together for a few seconds because they had much better things to do, owning the mountain and all! To get to the top of the world, I had to go down trails that I didn't want to or felt I had the courage or skill to. Hard to chicken out in front of the kids though. They already took turns baby sitting me.

So the trail on the left looks like it plummets into the great abyss. (It does) And the one on the right has slightly less...plummet-ness. I took right and the kids took left. Rocket Man went with me, he drew the short straw. I was feeling a little full of myself and was carefree flying down the mountain. I had a major wipe-out on the easiest trail of all. Poor Rocket Man had to help me with my skis and practically hold my hand till we met up with the rest of the clan at the Sugar Shack. (The bar). Honey, who is in fact a doctor, examined my shoulder, ( in one of those doctory ways that includes pressing on things till you scream) thought I had a fractured clavicle. Or a separated shoulder. My friends bought me a Jack and Coke. I got to meet the ski patrol. They made me scream too. They recommended an x-ray. Honey whispered in my ear that an x-ray then or several days later wouldn't change anything. So went went back to the house and he poured me another Jack and Coke, packed my shoulder in snow and put me down for a long winters nap. I took the next day off and it was a Christmas miracle! My shoulder felt better. SO much better that I skied again the last day. More cautiously, but I skied any way. I can't really pick my right arm up over my head and have a hard time putting my clothes on, but I will get it checked out after the kids go back to school.

Here is our Christmas dinner. We had honey baked ham, home made baked mac n cheese, green beans, croissants, and coconut cake. Not bad for the mountains. The family that went with us were great fun. (oh and just to point out the kids have cranberry juice and snow in their wine glasses!)

Long trip home to find Santa had been there. But it did tick me off that we come home on the 27th to have our Christmas and half of our neighborhood has already tossed their trees out for the garbage man.

People seem to rush the holiday and then can't wait to get it over with! So sad!

Yes sir it is there birthday! And NO they are not twins! One was born Dec 20 and the next Dec 22. What a crazy two years. It has made Christmas a blur for a very long time.

These pre-adolescent times are for the birds. After this mornings little tsunami got out of the car for school. (Or did I hit the eject button... not sure, it is unclear) I have two great ideas.

1. There should be an elephant gun loaded with either female hormones or just plain old tranquilizers. It should be mounted behind glass in my hall way at about elbows height. That way I could dramatically break the glass, cock the gun while I shoulder roll into her bedroom and fire away. Then maybe that woman-child would relax into a calmer state of mind.

2. My second choice, or maybe my first, it would depend on how fast it worked. As her voice escalates in the morning, little sprinklers in the ceiling would just automatically start to spray, Ativan, Xanax, Tear gas....something to soothe the raging beast.

I guess if none of this fits onto my stocking a Mommy Taser might be a nice alternative.

"Love ya Honey...BZZZZZZ! It's for your own good Honey.....BZZZZZZ!"

BY the way here it is, see the crazed look in it's super model eyes?

People I'd like to take a golf club to!

I just can't fault a woman who uses what she has. I too, have a garage full of golf clubs. There was a day when they looked awful tempting next to my Honey's shiny white Porche. I had considered "distressing the Porche". You know people pay extra for that distressed look. Clearly I was out of my mind that day! Okay, on to more reasonable whacking targets.

1. Hey Mr. Garbage Man!! You actually get paid to put the trash into your big truck. I don't care if your driving skills are bad or you can't work that electric moving arm-y thing, you still need to do your job. If I accidentally let one of my kids fall out of the car on the way to school and only two get there? Guess what? I am expected to go pick that one up and get him there too! It's called "task completion" and you earn a gold star! You Mr. Garbage Man get a swift 9 iron up side your nasty truck, at the very least!

2. Mrs. Cheater Pants who cuts in line every morning at school. Follow the traffic pattern like the rest of us. Does cutting acrossed campus make you feel special or more important? I am betting you don't burn with embarassment from all of the sneers that you get in the morning. Your ego must be incredibly intact to break the rules every single morning. OR maybe you work for the government and have an incredibly important high paying and secret job that you need to not mingle in normal traffic? What ever... you get the 3 wood!

3. The redneck teenagers in this town who think it is so cool to drive through other people front yards because it is muddy and will leave a cool splatter all over their cars. And cool! The yards will look so defiled! You all deserve the putters and I will jam them in your grills too! Car or mouth, it doesn't matter!

4. Basketball coach for 3rd graders. Do you need to yell at the top of your lungs at every practice? It could be demoralizing to those babies. How bout I just sit here on the bleachers with a club on my knees in case you make someone cry.

In honor of the season I will cut my list off before I get crazy.....

Things That I Never Thought I'd Hear!

At this time of year when, all hell breaks loose we are at our seasonal best. I have one sick, one recovering and one moping from lack of attention. Here are some of the surprising tid bits I have heard over the past few days.

1. Shar, you stay home with Shane. I will take the girls to the mall to Christmas shop!

2. Mommy, can we just snuggle?

3. Mommy, you are going to have a great Christmas. (Accompianied by a sweet little smirk)

4. The sound of silence.... after the credit card bill has been opened and reviewed. Actual silence..... God I love that man!

5. My friend calling me just to check on me. "I haven't talked to you in a while and I just missed you!" She sounds just like the Geico Pothole! Always a joy to hear her voice.

The Bright Side...

1. Despite having a fever of up to 104 off and on for three days, it looks like I am in fact not dying.

2. My children will guilt my husband into actually putting something into my stocking. Even though he bought me a mac daddy Canon G 1 million, but declared it my Christmas present before I even got it open.

3. No matter how hard I cough and sneeze and smell like sweat, my dogs and kids still want to be all over me! :)

4. My parents are always there for me.

5. Diet Sun-Drop over ice makes everything better, every time!

6. Thinking I lost 20 pounds over this bout with Malaria or Typhoid or Leprosy or whatever it is. A big girl can think big!

I have to rant a bit, so hang in there! Why the rush for Christmas? Are you not thankful for anything? I am so sick of all of the Christmas stuff already. I don't mind the music, because it is nice, but my neighborhood looks like Christmas vacation. It's not even Thanksgiving!

See my little Indian friends? They are thankful and remind us to be thankful.

Are you not thankful? I am!!

They are in my foyer and are "looking " right out my front door. I bet their little feelings are hurt staring at the light display in the hood.

If Squanto there was packing arrows, I am sure he would take out the lighted reindeer.

Pocahontas is much nicer about things. (Unlike me!)

I think you shouldn't start preparing for Christmas until..... you poop turkey! I think that is a good standard, don't you?

That's my boy. Can you tell he's looking into graduate programs? Can you tell he's doing research on spiders?

Why, I think he's doing some research right there! Something about alcohol uptake and some sort of receptor site and it's agonist! (He would be so proud of me for using those words.)

Yesterday we talked about "cooties". He didn't believe in them as a child. He didn't know they would become his future.

He calls me everyday! Everyday! Yes there are college boys like that. Usually he just wants to let me know that he has "rocked" an exam, or what gormet meal he will be having that night. Yes I have created a food snob in him. He'd rather have wild salmon and rice pilaf over the ever affordable Ramen noodles, any day.

He will also tell you that he is "discriminatory about his non-hydrating beverages". He knows his beer and wine. Not a college variety chugger, he's a sniff, swirl and sip guy. He knows where they come from and how they are brewed and or distilled. He can tell the difference between, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Cab with his eyes closed.

But then there are Irish Carbombs! Whole different story!

Lets not tell him I blogged about him today, he will correct my grammar and dispute something. Probably that agonist thing.

Here he is.... Big Man on Campus!

If you look carefully, he looks like, he is beginning to form a word!!!

I'm just guessing, but it look's bad. I would have beaten him if he did.

He didn't!

She is his assistant coach. She sacrificed soccer this year to cheer, and it is killing her. But she will try out for the spring team. When she went to soccer camp once with pros, they nicknamed her "Hot Sauce". I could have never in my life come up with a more appropriate name! I just may change it on her birth certificate.

This is why she is not playing soccer or basketball, or year round swimming this year. She was bitten by the cheer bug. She has been going to competitions for years watching her sister.

I am not sure if it was a challenge, or the need to girlie up a bit?

Honey and I never figured it out.

But she wears it well, and is tumbling like a maniac already!

Now here is the original cheer girl. She is extremely comfortable in front of the camera or a few thousand people.

On her shoulders is one ball of fire, affectionately known as "muscle baby".

My honey called me and I could hear the trepidation in his voice.

I could tell he was about to deliver bad news.

He said... well, I think the Bobcats will be a better team now?

They traded Raja Bell and Vladomir Radmonovich.

Raja was awesome, but does have a questionable wrist injury.

He was scrappy and all over the court.

Vladomir, was the token white guy.

But the announcer said his name really great.

So now we have two new guys from Golden Sate?

One good guy and a spare. Who are they anyway?
